Avoid washing in the dishwasher as this can damage the unglazed surface and alter the natural texture of the clay. Hand wash with a soft sponge and lukewarm water. After washing, allow the mugs to air dry rather than drying them in the oven. High temperatures can cause cracking.

A few words about the brand

Carole Fachina, founder of the Beninese brand ILEWA POTERIE, finds her inspiration in her passion for art and love of her land. The name “ILEWA” resonates like “our land” in the Yoruba language. Since her beginnings in 2018, she has energetically launched into the creation of decorative objects and kitchen accessories in terracotta, in collaboration with artisan potters based in Boukoumbe, in the Atacora region, in the northwest of Benin. This approach celebrates respect for the Earth, a fundamental value in Africa.
