Ledoux Store et l'AFR : Soutenir l'artisanat Africain durable et équitable pour un impact social positif - Ledoux Store

Ledoux Store and AFR: Supporting sustainable and fair African crafts for a positive social impact

In November 2023, we had the chance to meet the founders of the Professional Training and Recruitment Agency (AFR) in Cotonou (Benin). This agency, under the direction of Ms. Hortense A. EDAH, is dedicated to promoting and strengthening the capacities of artisans in Benin.

At Ledoux Store , we are driven by the desire to promote authentic crafts from sub-Saharan Africa and the West Indies. We strongly believe in the importance of such initiatives to strengthen African crafts, by providing solutions adapted to the challenges faced by artisans.

AFR: A key player in supporting artisans

The AFR, created in 2021, has the mission of supporting artisans and craft businesses through technical training programs, advice and tailored support. This support not only helps preserve traditional know-how but also ensures better competitiveness on the international market. The AFR's values — empowerment , sustainability , and social responsibility — are also at the heart of Ledoux Store 's mission. We believe that training and supporting artisans is essential to improve their quality of life and help them face the challenges of global trade.

Among the AFR's flagship programs, the FACEM Program stands out by offering comprehensive training in the fashion industry for disadvantaged youth. It is perfectly in line with our commitment to promoting African and Caribbean crafts internationally.

The VIVO Program: An ecological and social initiative

At the same time, AFR launched the VIVO Program , which aims to empower adolescents, young girls and mothers by developing local ecological products. These products include washable diapers, nursing covers and reusable menstrual pads, made from local materials such as organic cotton. This project promotes responsible production rooted in local culture, which echoes our approach at Ledoux Store , where we promote the values of sustainability and ethical trade in crafts.

The future of crafts in Benin

With initiatives such as the AFR and its digitalization program for artisans , it is clear that the craft sector in Benin is undergoing a transformation.

Ledoux Store is proud to support this type of evolution by offering artisans a platform to access international markets. We firmly believe that the future of craftsmanship lies in the ability to combine tradition and innovation , while ensuring sustainable and ethical production.
